does anyone know if:
• vintage cast iron like griswold or wagner ware, or
• enameled cast iron like le creuset, staub or descoware
can go straight from refrigerator or freezer:
• onto a gas range top, or
• into an oven, or
• under a broiler?
thanks for any help as i'm starting to build a small vintage cookware collection!

My husband has just relocated his cast iron skillet, but it looks like it was never cleaned the last time he cooked in it. He has put dawn detergent and water in it and boiled it but it is still just a thick sludge that won't budge. Is this skillet hopeless or will a little bit of elbow grease help? Any other "tricks" would be greatly appreciated.

We'd like to purchase a complete cast iron (Lodge) outdoor cookware set for a large family of 8 that does a lot of camping/outdoor adventures yet can't afford this themselves... I'm not sure exactly what they would need. With so many, would they need a couple of different sizes of skillet and/or dutch oven? Etc.. ??

My wife bought me a cast iron skillet a while ago and is upset that I have not yet used it. I like to cook, but I have never really used cast iron. Any suggestions? Thanks!
