I saw a show about Lodge cast iron cookware and I’m pretty sure they use recycled iron and they are made in America. Here’s my take on cookware, buy good quality once and take care of it and it will last a lifetime. Using a heavy pot like cast iron means the pot heats well and you can usually use less energy. Another fuel saver is a pressure cooker, it can cut cooking time dramatically. I would avoid non stick surfaces and buy pots and pans with heavy bottoms. Look for items that don’t have plastic handles on the pots or lids, so you can use them in the oven as well.
I do my best to consider the earth when making any purchase, but try not to over think it.
I don’t know anything about Rachel Ray cookware, but I’m very fond of cast iron cookware. The best part is that you can often get it in antique shops or thrift stores. It doesn’t have to be new. Old cast iron means that the impact of its manufacture is much less compared to how long it has been in use.
My cast iron belonged to my grandmother. Works great… in some ways cast iron gets better with age.
Hi:
My name is Fernando and I see you have a great interest in Eco-Friendly products. This has been my passion for 26 years in the use of electricity and water.
We have been using a product for over two years to wash our laundry with great results, and we have been able to save money, water and electric energy so I started offering the product to people such as ourselves to change our polluting habits and help reverse this polluting trend.
Please check the following site and see if you would be interested in reducing water pollution. Have a wonderful day and Remember to ¡¡Keep Smiling!!
