Hi do I have to season an enamaled cast iron skillet. My foods stick real bad or burn real fast.I do put butter or little oil to cook but all my stuff turns out lousy. The inside is white enamel.

  • You don’t have to season and enameled cast iron pot/pan.. However, cast iron heats up very fast and retains heat for along time so you may want to cook at a lower temp. You can use a thin layer of vegetable oil/olive oil when cooking just be sure to turn the heat down…
You want water drops to “dance” across the surface not completely disappear ! So, turn down the heat… !

I think you have your heat too high, and don’t use butter, use veg. oil. to fry or brown with, if you want the taste of butter, add it after things are cooked.

Not when it has white enamel inside you don’t need to season the pan but you do need to put oil in the pan all pans need some oil or butter but oil is preferred as butter will burn easily try using a little olive oil this will help the food taste better but do not use high flame as olive oil will burn easily and this can be toxic at this point Good Luck !

If the inside of the skillet is enamel, you do not have to season it. When you’re cooking, remember that the cast iron will stay pretty hot even after you turn off the heat. Butter makes a stickier surface than oil, so you might try oil instead of butter, or use a combination of oil and butter. You could also try cooking at lower temperature.

yes. wipe it down with some cooking oil before each use
